Background: Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is a beta coronavirus causing Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), a zoonotic and severe respiratory disease in humans. To date, MERS-CoV has only been isolated from dromedary camels and humans. In humans it was first identified in April 2012. Camels are a likely primary source of the MERS-CoV infection in humans.

Description: ViroReal® Kit MERS-CoV is based on the amplification and detection of the nucleocapsid (N) gene of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) using one-step reverse transcription real-time PCR.

PCR-platforms: ViroReal® Kit MERS-CoV is developed and validated for the ABI PRISM® 7500 instrument (Life Technologies), LightCycler® 480 (Roche) and Mx3005P® QPCR System (Agilent), but is also suitable for other real-time PCR instruments.
