Background: Porcine parvovirus (PPV) is a member of the Parvoviridae family with a single-stranded DNA as genome. PPV is associated with reproductive problems, including abortion, still births, small litters, neonatal deaths and weak piglets. PPV multiplies normally in the intestine of the pig without causing clinical signs. Disease occurs when sero-negative dams are infected in the first half of gestation and the virus crosses the placenta.

Description: ViroReal^® Kit Porcine Parvovirus is based on the amplification and detection of the non-structural protein 1 (NS1) gene of the porcine parvovirus (PPV).

PCR-platforms: ViroReal^® Kit Porcine Parvovirus is developed and validated for the ABI PRISM^® 7500 instrument (Life Technologies), LightCycler^® 480 (Roche) and Mx3005P^® QPCR System (Agilent), but is also suitable for other real-time PCR instruments.
