Background: Aerococcus viridans is a Gram-positive bacterium causing gaffkemia in marine lobsters, and it has been associated with septicemia in sea turtles. Aerococcus viridans has also been isolated from the milk of cows with subclinical mastitis. It can also cause different human infections such as endocarditis, urinary tract infections, arthritis, or meningitis.

PCR-platforms: BactoReal® Kit Aerococcus viridans is developed and validated for the ABI PRISM® 7500 instrument (Life Technologies), LightCycler® 480 (Roche) and Mx3005P® QPCR System (Agilent), but is also suitable for other real-time PCR instruments.
